PLASTIC SURGERY
Establishing a beauty regimen involving skin and hair care, make up routines and taking care of your inner self, is not enough for everyone. There are many women who are not happy with one or more of their facial or body features, who try to hide them or to otherwise compensate for such feelings of inadequacy.
For these women, there is an option: cosmetic plastic surgery. Cosmetic plastic surgery is an option that gives a woman a chance to make herself look better or prettier, by either changing a feature she thinks of as a compromise or reversing various signs of aging.
There are many things plastic surgery cannot do. It will not transform your life from an unhappy one to a perfect one( unless you honestly attribute such unhappiness to the wrinkles around your eyes or to a crooked nose) it can only make you feel better about yourself so that your outlook on life may improve. It will not make you look like your favorite movie star, or fix an unhappy relationship. It is a surgical solution to a cosmetic problem. CHOOSING A PLASTIC SURGEON. A plastic surgeon needs to be artistic as well as medically highly competent and it would be better to ask your doctor to recommend a surgeon. To be sure he or she is a medical doctor, a skilled surgeon, trained to heal the body` s wounds.
He is a` psychiatrist ` experienced in probing for reasons and reassuring patients about their inadequacies and anxieties. When you get the name of asss plastic surgeon, meet with him and check out his credentials to find out what kind of training he has had. No surgeon should be insulted or offended by that question, if he is offended, get out of his office and no patient should be intimidated to ask it. Assess the surgeon as a person. Does he find time to answer your questions? Does he ask you for your desires and your motivations or does he tell you what should be done? Meet with the surgeon more than once.
If he wants to see you once and then operate, find some one else. Any good plastic surgeon should be more than willing, even insistent; on discussing your motives (is it your mother who hates your nose? Is your husband having an affair with a woman who has figure better than you). Your medical history, and the limitations and probable results of the procedure. If he is a good plastic surgeon he will explain things like the inevitability of scars, the medical risks, the recovery time and possible aftereffects. Educate yourself about plastic surgery.
Ask about the options. Ask about all costs. PLASTIC SURGERY – THE OPTIONS. EYE LID SURGERY. There are three procedures that can be done to the eyelid.
1-REMOVING EXCESS SKIN FROM THE UPPER LID: This surgery takes about an hour, and recuperation takes about seven days, after which you resume your normal activities.
How ever, you should wait three weeks before returning a full athletic schedule, because the bouncing and straining can lead to swelling in the face and can precipitate bleeding.
The scar in this procedure falls in the folds of the upper eyelid, so it can hardly be seen. 2- REMOVING FAT OR BAGS FROM UNDER THE EYES- This surgery also takes about an hour. It is a very common, precise and successful operation that is done on people of all ages. This inconspicuous scar is usually in the lower eye lid, right underneath the eyelashes, made from one end of the eye to the other. 3- REMOVING WRINKLES FROM THE LOWER EYE LIDS- There is a real limitation regarding the removal of wrinkles under and around the eyes- if a surgeon pulls on the skin too tightly to try to remove every wrinkle, he can distort the shape of the eyes. So in most cases, the lines will be decreased, but they won` t be completely erased. This is an added argument for staying out of sun (the major cause of most eye wrinkles) and for moisturizing the skin around the eyes. If eye wrinkles around the eyes are your problem, you might also consider two other options in plastic surgery- the use of collagen injections or a chemical peel. FACE LIFT-
A complete face lift takes up the slack skin on the lower cheeks and jaw line, smooths out nose to mouth lines, improves the neck area and removes many of the lines on forehead and eyes. It is a long operation because incisions must be made in front of the ears, behind the ears and the scalp. Operating time is about three to four hours, with up to five nights in hospital. And the results, like eyes may last about 10 years, but probably no more than about five. A surgeon will not want to do a complete face lift unless the face really can take it.
One of the dangers is that in smoothing out the face and making it look younger, there is a loss of expression. The scars can be hidden by your hair style. THE NOSE- Nose re- shaping is probably the most widely sought operation for men and women of all ages. A nose can be shortened, thinned or build up and the operating time is about an hour with the surgery performed from the inside- so there is no risk of scarring.
The benefit lasts for ever. THE CHIN- A receding chin can be augmented with skin can hurt. The sanded down skin forms crusts which falloff eventually, leaving sensitive skin underneath. The end result should be much smoother skin than before.
BREASTS- A great concern to women if they are too small or too large. Breast reduction may be done when a large bosom is so excessive that is causes not only embarrassment but health problems because of weight. Reducing the breasts is a more complicated operation than augmentation, the nipples will have to be re-situated, and there may be scars which fade but do not altogether disappear. The operation can take up to two hours or longer, you need five days in hospital, and the soreness can take a month or more to disappear.
In breast enlargement an incision is made under the breast following the natural curve and a silicone-gel filled bag is inserted to give extra bulk. The bags may also be inserted through incisions in the armpits. You will need three or four nights in hospital and there will be some discomfort afterward which gradually wears away. Both kinds of surgery give results that should lasts about 10 years or longer. BODY TUCKS- Flabby skin and stretch marks left by pregnancy can be smoothed out with an incision running along top of the legs. With liposuction we can contour our those body parts that are diet and exercise resistant.Who are good candidates for liposuction?
The ideal patients are those who are close to their ideal body weight and in good physical condition. Liposuction is not a substitute for weight loss – it is a contouring procedure for areas of the body that are diet and exercise resistant. These would include the abdomen, hips, and thighs in women and the abdomen and flanks in men. The face, breasts, back, and calves are also areas that liposuction can be effective. Finally, the quality of skin can also be a factor since skin retraction will occur after liposuction. In most cases, liposuction can be an excellent procedure with a relatively quick recovery and noticeable improvements in body contour. Tummy Tuck Surgery – Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty, known more commonly as a “tummy tuck,” is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall. Abdominoplasty can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen. Often after pregnancy or weight loss, excess skin and stretch marks deform the once flat and tight abdomen. But, despite diet and exercise, loose skin still remains. Abdominoplasty is particularly helpful to women who, through multiple pregnancies, have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond the point where they can return to normal. Loss of skin elasticity in older patients, which frequently occurs with slight obesity, can also be improved. The best candidates for a tummy tuck are men or women who are in relatively good shape but are bothered by a large fat deposit or loose abdominal skin.
