With some practice any one can give themselves a perfect type of manicure and pedicure.

1-Remove old nail polish .Clip long nails to length and smooth with emery board .File from sides to center and do not file too low down at the corners.

2- Soak the fingers briefly in a bowl of warm, soapy water. You can also add some slices of lemon, to loosen dirt beneath the tips and to soften the cuticle. For dry nails we can add some almond or olive oil too. If dirt has become embedded in the pink part of the nail, let it grow out.

3- Dry hands carefully .Use a sponge to help clean nails by suction. Flick a little cuticle cream on to the base of each nail in turn. The cream should be thick and firm in consistency, like lard massage it well into the cuticle and surrounding nail using the ball of the thumb in a firm rotating movement .This will also help to stimulate the circulation, to promoting a healthy pink glow beneath the nail.

4-Use a cotton swab or orange stick tipped with cotton wool, being careful not to poke use a rubber-tipped hoof stick to lift cuticle away from nail bed. Never use force or too great a pressure in this area. Be gentle ,persuade do not push never use an orange stick with a pointed end or a metal instrument ,as they may open up the space between the skin and nail, inviting dirt ,detergent, even nail enamel in to the matrix.

5- Rub a generous amount of hand cream on to the hand. First pulling the finger joints up wards, and then using the first and second fingers to pull skin tissue down towards the knuckles. Finish by massaging the palm. Using an orange stick padded with cotton wool gently clean under each nail.

6-Apply base coat if you are using nail polish .Use three strokes ,one down and one either side .Now apply nail polish ,two or three coats depending on your chiseled every coat dry. Use a glossy to-coat, or a spray-on polish dryer if you are in hurry.

PEDICURE

You should take as much care of your feet as you do of your hands or other parts of body. Your feet are probably subjected to more pressure and injury than any other part of your body. A grown person mostly gets foot troubles by badly fitted shoes, try to buy them in the end of the day when the feet are more tired and swollen. Get into the habit of alternating shoes and more important, heel heights to give your calf muscles plenty of exercise and your heels and soles a rest. Carry out a pedicure every week if you can, and keep your feet looking pretty and comfortable.

1-Remove nail polish if you are wearing with a cotton wool and oily polish remover.

2- Soak your feet in a warm sudsy water. Add your favorite bubble bath and add two table spoons of baking soda to soften rough dry patches of skin if necessary.

3-Scrub around toes, under foot and heels with nail brush .Rub rough patches with pumice stone-not too roughly.

4-Use a seat or stool covered with a towel as rest for your feet. Clip nails straight across, do not cut down into corners which can grow early. Smooth sharp corners with the coarse side of an emery board.

5-Ease back cuticle with cotton swab or orange stick tipped with cotton wool and cuticle remover and use a rubber-tipped hoof stick to gently lift cuticle away from nail plate.

6-Gently clean under nails with cotton swab dipped in sudsy water or the cuticle remover to the feet, rubbing in well and avoiding the space between the toes. Knead and massage every inch of the sole, heel and top side of the foot. Rotating thumbs from ankles to toes, working between bones on instep. Support foot with right hand ,fingers under, thumb on top and with thumb and fore finger take hold of each toe and rotate three or four times. With fingers of both hands interlocked, under foot, thumbs on top, slowly bend toes up and down three times.

7-Buff nails if you are not going to apply polish. You can use a little paste to aid the sheen. If you are going to apply polish, go over each nail, first with cotton wool and nail polish remover to take away grease. Separate your toes with cotton wool to stop smudging and apply a base coat. Apply nail polish with two coats .Allow each coat to dry. Finish with a top coat of clear polish to seal in color and add gloss.
